Eriskay and its neighbouring islands have a wealth of options for those who enjoy the outdoors and nature. As an RSPB reserve, the area is a veritable ornothologists' paradise, with species ranging from waders to plovers and golden eagles in the high hills, plus those rarest of birds, the corncrake and the osprey. Sea & loch fishing is renowned in the islands, particularly angling for wild brown trout in the famous waters of the Uists. Watersports are also popular and there is hardly a better environment in Europe, with refreshingly clean beaches and shorelines all around. Whether you want to just paddle with the kids, or take off with a surfboard, you can find it all here.  Hebridean plant life is varied and fascinating too, with many rare and in some cases unique, flowers and plants. There are golf courses on both North & South Uist, and on Benbecula - as with the fishing, you can indulge your pastime while also taking in the magnificent scenery, skies, beaches and nature all around you. Hillwalking in the islands is highly rewarding, with each ridge you cross revealing stunning vistas beyond - Ben Mor and Hecla on South Uist are magnificent but for the less ambitious, Ben Scrien on Eriskay leads you to marvellous views of Barra, South Uist and the Isle of Skye. If history & archaeology are your thing, the islands have a fascinating trove of sites and locations to be explored.  For detailed information on all these activities, see links below:-
